Exchange

ARC Research Model - Exchange

Exchange of Experience and Ideas

Capturing the experience, ideas and feedback from farmers, advisors, researchers and others is crucial to maximising knowledge gained and impact.

Farmers learn best from farmers and there is no substitute for real physical meetings. Discussions can be facilitated by Whatsapp Groups and discussion boards like The Farming Forum

By sharing successes, challenges, and learnings, we aim to build a community focused on improving agricultural outcomes through evidence-based practices.

FarmPEP supports comments and discussion of project results, and enables development and sharing of distilled knowledge nuggets to return to the knowledge base.

Farmer-led Faciliation

Empowering farmers to lead research initiatives ensures that innovations are practical and directly applicable. ARC connects with a wide range of organisations in the Farmer Led Innovation Network and works with experienced facilitators.

RAU's Bridging Fields programme is providing facilitation training to researchers. AKISConnect has some useful tools and resources.

Digital Knowledge Sharing

Digital platforms are vital for broadening the reach of agricultural knowledge. ARC utilizes tools like FarmPEP to enable farmers to share experiences, access data-driven insights, and engage in discussions that drive collective learning.

Collaborative Events

In-person events remain a cornerstone of effective knowledge exchange. ARC organizes and supports workshops, field days, and discussion groups that bring together diverse stakeholders to share experiences and foster innovation.

How can ARC help?

At ARC, we recognise that effective knowledge exchange is central to improving agricultural practices. We support this by:

  • Facilitating Collaborative Networks: We bring together farmers, advisors, researchers, and industry stakeholders to co-design research questions and share practical insights, ensuring that innovations are grounded in real-world farming experiences.

  • Leveraging Digital Platforms: Utilizing tools like FarmPEP and The Farming Forum, we create spaces for sharing data, discussing results, and collaboratively developing solutions. We strive for the development and dissemination of "knowledge nuggets"—concise, actionable insights derived from collective experiences.

  • Supporting Farmer-Led Initiatives: We collaborate with organizations such as BOFIN and Innovative Farmers to empower farmers to lead on-farm trials and research projects, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

  • Organising Knowledge Exchange Events: From field days to workshops, our partners coordinate events that facilitate peer-to-peer learning and the sharing of best practices, recognizing that face-to-face interactions remain invaluable for effective knowledge transfer.
